In 2014 the tropical storm of Arthur hit all of New Brunswick including Moncton. This was the most extreme storm New Brunswick has ever experienced before, it left people in New Brunswick along with the other East coast provinces in the dark and without hydro for several days. Fallen trees on hydro lines, flooded areas and power outages interrupted everyone's day to day life because of the limitations on where they could go and what roads were blocked off at the time because of danger or damage. The total clean up cost was an estimated 12. 6 million dollars just for New Brunswick alone. When this storm hit New Brunswick there was massive amounts of harsh rain up to 143mm of rain in some parts of the province and very strong winds some reaching 100km/h.
